Texting a friend about the missing iced latte
A real situation from the OGIMA community · Everyday Life
The scene
Morning, your usual café, and the barista just told you the espresso machine is broken — no cold drinks until they fix it. You type a half-complaint, half-plan text to your friend who's on the way, trying to stay nice about the café you both love.
Why this moment is tricky in Germany
German specialty-coffee culture took longer to adopt iced drinks than the UK or US; in smaller cafés the espresso machine is literally the bottleneck. Third-wave shops in Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg, and Neukölln have closed the gap, but older Cafés still don't do iced.
Rehearse it before it happens
