Running through stretches in the hospital corridor
A real situation from the OGIMA community · Doctors & Nurses
The scene
You stand with two colleagues in the corridor outside the station, swinging into a slow lunge and a shoulder rotation while the patients in sight pretend not to watch. The hallway is empty enough, barely.
Why this moment is tricky in Germany
German Pflegepersonal (nursing-staff) between-shifts-stretch culture — quick corridor stretches to fight back-pain from patient-lifting — is an informal but recognized coping ritual in shift work, especially on rehab and geriatrics wards. In hospital cultures where any visible non-clinical behavior is frowned on, the corridor stretch doesn't happen.
