Why this moment is tricky in Germany
German hospital Visite (ward-round) culture with Senioren treats language modulation as a clinical skill — slowing down, using clearer consonants, pausing for comprehension — especially in neurology, geriatrics, and palliative wards. The daughter hovering is the common second set of ears. In hospital cultures where rounds are doctor-only or silent, the modulated conversation doesn't happen.
