Checking in at the doctor's Praxis reception

A real situation from the OGIMA community · Doctors & Nurses

The scene

Praxis waiting room, the receptionist window thick-glassed, and you're sliding your Krankenkassenkarte and a printed Überweisung across the counter. She asks if you've been here before and you realize the last time was two years ago.

Why this moment is tricky in Germany

The German Praxis system (small private-practice doctors) is a core feature of the statutory health insurance model — Überweisung (referrals) from a Hausarzt are often required for specialist visits. US and UK patients used to walk-in primary care often find the Praxis system initially unfamiliar but more predictable once learned.

Rehearse it before it happens

This situation is practised out loud in OGIMA: you speak, an AI conversation partner answers back, and you rerun it until the real thing feels routine.
